We are known for our innovation and reliability, providing unique systems that accelerate scientific research. We are looking for an automation and support engineer to join our team in Polk City, Iowa, to help install and perform hardware service maintenance on our Lynx liquid handling platforms.Responsibilities
As an automation and support engineer, you will play a pivotal role in keeping system equipment in optimal shape for our customer base. Based in Polk City, you will work closely with our team to test and refurbish instruments, coordinate with customers for service-related issues, and ensure product functionality.- Customer support: Communicate with customers following installation to assist with troubleshooting and perform maintenance training. Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance and provide ongoing development support.
- Hardware maintenance: Perform necessary repairs and refurbishment for internal and customer-owned Lynx platforms. Conduct testing for operational qualifications to ensure the platform can execute the customer’s methods.
- Documentation: Write service reports detailing the setup and tear down of Lynx platforms, including descriptions of any servicing and testing performed.
- Collaboration: Work as part of a cross-trained and dynamic team (hardware, software, applications) while coordinating with the sales team for end-to-end product development.
- Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with customers and team members to convey updates, coordinate expectations, and ensure project targets are being met.
Qualifications
- Educational background: An Associate’s degree or equivalent in manufacturing, engineering, automotive repair, or a related field is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of hands-on experience in manufacturing, equipment/hardware repairs, or mechanical engineering.
- Travel: Able to travel domestically (40-60% of the time), possibly on a few days’ notice. Overnight stays will often be required during domestic travel.
- Adaptability: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Able to adapt to new challenges and independently develop solutions throughout a project.
- Hardware knowledge: Comfortable working with hardware and willing to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Organizational abilities: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Communicative skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ideally experienced in customer support.
- CAD experience: Knowledge of 3D printing and the ability to create CAD models.
- Industry knowledge: Experience in biotechnology or life science sectors.
- Lab automation experience: Familiarity with lab automation, particularly for life science applications.

We are currently looking for a FASE (Field Application and Service Engineer). This individual will be involved with supporting the territory in keeping the system equipment in optimal shape for our customer base. This will start with installation, training and application support. Programming as well as system support and preventative maintenance are also part of the candidate’s duties. The position will work closely with sales (both pre-sales and post-sales) to assist in instrument demonstrations or other tasks to grow the business. As part of a small elite team, we will look to your help with identifying new trends, contributing to documentation or tech notes and streamline applications as needed. We are looking for a quick learner that can operate independently yet cooperatively to support those innovations as well as keeping the existing installation base operational and instilling confidence with our products.- Design, develop, and support instrument methods for a diverse customer base
- Understand and analyze project requirements and translate those into programming deliverables
- Work with internal engineers to provide feedback on products for improvement
- Work with R&D on product testing
- Work as part of a cross-trained and a highly dynamic team (hardware, software, applications)
- Willingness to complete your tasks, even when outside the normal scope, to help reach goals
- Coordinate expectations on shipping and installation logistics for installations
- Schedule & coordinate preventative maintenance each month to be completed
- Receive customer calls for service-related issues. Triage and assess remotely or in person
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Biology, Computer Science or applied engineering discipline
- Prior track record of implementing of lab automation in the life sciences
- Working knowledge of common lab techniques
- ELISA
- PCR
- Cell Culture
- NGS Library prep
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel (30-50%) locally
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Located in Metro Boston
Pluses:
- Understanding of computer communications (TCP/IP, RS232) & networking
- Comfortable working with hardware and willing to learn
- Comfort with scripting languages (Python, C#, etc)

The Assembly Technician position is a multifaceted position within a small company and light manufacturing environment. Primary duties will include electro-mechanical assembly of robotic instruments and peripheral devices.Primary Responsibilities
- Complete assembly of robotic instruments from part kitting to final assembly, testing, and shipping.
- Complete and update manufacturing documentation as required (e.g., Bill of Materials, Build Sheets, Assembly Documents).
- Inventory maintenance to include receiving, stocking, counting, assuring minimum supply requirements.
- Perform factory testing and final quality control check prior to shipping.
- Maintain work area in a very clean and highly organized manner.
Working Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications General:
- Ability to work independently, self-manage, and handle multiple tasks.
- Able to adapt to frequent changes and re-prioritize as necessary in a fast-paced environment.

Assembly:
- Construction of small to large scale electro-mechanical assemblies made from cnc machines parts, sheet metal parts, rotary and linear servo motors, linear encoders, sensors, air cylinders, and numerous other electro-mechanical components.
- Ability to follow and improve manufacturing methods and processes.
- General cable assembly to include cable prep, crimp, and basic soldering is a plus.
- Skilled in use of general production tools (e.g., allen wrenches, cable crimp tools, multi-meter, drill press, pliers, wire strippers, screw gun, metric fasteners, measuring devices, etc.)
- Able to read and understand CAD drawings and basic electrical schematics.
Technical/Computer:
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
- Ability to write assembly documentation, maintain and update bill of materials and QC documentation
- Operate robotic instrumentation and follow specific test procedures.
