Position: Field Application & Service Engineer (FASE)
We are seeking a Field Application and Service Engineer (FASE) to support our customers and systems in the Metro Boston area. This role combines technical expertise, customer-facing service, and collaboration with internal teams. You will be responsible for system installations, customer training, application and programming support, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
As part of a small, elite, and highly dynamic team, you will also contribute to product demonstrations, technical documentation, application streamlining, and product improvement feedback. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively to keep our systems running at peak performance and instill customer confidence.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support automation systems for customers
- Provide customer training, programming, and application support
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to service-related issues (remote or onsite)
- Collaborate with Sales on instrument demonstrations (pre- and post-sales)
- Design, develop, and support instrument methods for diverse life science workflows
- Analyze customer project requirements and deliver programming solutions
- Work with Engineering and R&D teams on feedback, testing, and product improvements
- Identify new trends, streamline applications, and contribute to technical documentation
- Coordinate shipping and installation logistics for system deployments
- Support cross-functional teamwork (hardware, software, applications)
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Biology, Computer Science, or Applied Engineering discipline
- Proven track record with lab automation in the life sciences industry
- Working knowledge of common lab techniques, such as:
- ELISA
- PCR
- Cell culture
- NGS library preparation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
- Based in the Metro Boston area
Preferred Skills (Pluses)
- Experience with computer communications (TCP/IP, RS232) & networking
- Comfort with hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Scripting/programming knowledge (Python, C#, or similar)
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to share knowledge
